A postdoctoral position at the Medical School of Rouen, France

A postdoctoral opportunity is available at the Medical School, University of Rouen, France, to study the molecular mechanisms underlying splicing alterations associated with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Additional projects in the lab focus on the study of splicing defects associated with other inherited diseases such as hereditary colorectal cancer, and hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. In particular, we are using a combination of molecular, biochemical and cellular approaches to identify and characterize exonic splicing regulatory elements in genes implicated in those pathologies.

The hosting laboratory, Inserm U614, is an INSERM (French Institute for Health and Biomedical Research) unit directed by Prof. Thierry Frébourg, and it is located at the Medical School of the University of Rouen, France. Research environment includes core facilities and access to clinical material from the University Hospital of Rouen and from the French Cancéropôle Nord-Ouest.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics or related areas. Prior experience in techniques such as DNA and RNA isolation, cloning, PCR, cell culture, transfection, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and/or biochemical assays is preferred. Skills in RNA biology would be especially valuable. Candidates are expected to be highly motivated and capable of independent initiative. The selected candidate will apply for a fellowship from SMA-Europe, deadline October 8th.
